Description
This position involves being outside in all weather conditions, lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds of product and other materials as needed, and frequently requires squatting and bending.
As a new employee, you will complete a 24-hour MSHA Part-48 training course with one of our instructors and be given Hazmat training. You will often complete a 10-hour OSHA course and be trained on various State requirements. We want you to know what you are doing.
Your normal day will start off by assisting the driver load a truck with product. You will then drive or ride to the job location which is often construction like terrain. Once on site you will assist the Driver and Blaster loading holes and help as needed with other labor tasks.
You will use material handling equipment including shovels, hand tools, power tools and work around heavy construction equipment. You will maintain a clean, safe working environment and report safety concerns to the Blaster in Charge or Site Manager.
Remember, safety is always a priority whether you are driving or assisting the Blaster in Charge with site preparation and equipment setup. You should report equipment or mechanical failures immediately to the Blaster in Charge. After the shot is fired, you will return to the main facility, and assist the Driver or Blaster get ready for the next day’s operations or perform other tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Physical ability to lift, up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Have strong team-working skills and access to reliable transportation.
- Must meet requirements of all State and Federal explosive laws and qualify as an ATF explosive possessor.
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and background checks conducted by Wampum Hardware and the ATF.
- Ability to follow all of Wampum Hardware Co policies and procedures.
