Middle School Paraprofessional Librarian
Wamsutta Middle School
Our library is at the center of our school and, as such, the library, media-center paraprofessional plays a central role in both our school’s reading culture and our student’s technological skill development. We are looking for an energetic, organized, welcoming, and engaging individual who is excited to take literacy, traditional and technological, to the next level at Wamsutta Middle School.
Reports to: Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for Response to Intervention student grouping assisting students with literacy & math skills.
- Engage students in independent reading time, technology activites, read alouds, and/or by assisting students in the choosing of books appropriate to their reading abilities.
- Teaching students about how to use technology safely, appropriately, and effectively. For example, teaching students to log in to ChromeBooks, teaching students about internet safety, and integrating typing activities into lessons.
- Teaching students library skills, such as, where to find appropriate books.
- Maintaining an orderly and up-to-date inventory of library books. Work with building principal to maintain a well-stocked library.
- Assisting teachers with finding texts that support their learning objectives.
- Supporting school-based reading programs, including, but not limited to the book fair.
Skills:
1. Ability to engage 5-8 students in engaging learning experiences
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, concurrently (e.g., leadinf RTI groups, library maintenance, and school-based reading program).
- Ability to maintain an organized, user-friendly library and learning environment for students and staff.
