Job Summary:
Wander Nashville is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Historic E-Bike Tour Guide to lead visitors on engaging and informative tours through Nashville's rich historical sites. As a tour guide, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of tour participants while providing entertaining and educational commentary on the city's history and landmarks. Our immersive tour guides are known for their passionate storytelling- whish is a must.
Responsibilities:
- Lead guided e-bike tours of historic sites, landmarks, and scenic routes.
- Provide safety instructions and guidelines to participants before the tour begins.
- Ensure all participants are equipped with properly functioning e-bikes and safety gear.
- Navigate routes efficiently and safely, keeping the group together and on schedule.
- Deliver engaging, immersive, and entertaining commentary on the historical significance of each site visited.
- Answer questions from tour participants and provide additional information as requested.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor throughout the tour.
- Handle any issues or emergencies that may arise during the tour, following established safety protocols.
- Sell additional products to partner activities, tours, and museums
Qualifications:
- Be a natural entertainer and storyteller.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
- Strong knowledge of local history, landmarks, and points of interest (will train)
- Experience leading guided tours or working in a similar customer-facing role, including performing arts, music, dance, or teaching background.
- Proficiency in operating e-bikes and basic bike maintenance knowledge.
- Ability to adapt to different group sizes and demographics.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Platinum Ambassador Certified (will train)
- Comfortable riding e-bikes for extended periods and in varying weather conditions.
- Fluent in English (additional languages a plus).
Safety Requirements:
- Conduct pre-tour safety briefings, including proper helmet usage and bike operation.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations throughout the tour, including traffic laws and e-bike etiquette.
- Monitor participants for signs of fatigue or distress and provide assistance as needed.
- Maintain situational awareness and anticipate potential hazards along the route.
- Carry a first aid kit and bike repair tools and be able to assist as needed
- Stay informed about local weather conditions and adjust tour plans accordingly.
- Ensure e-bikes are well-maintained and regularly inspected for safety.
Entertainment Qualities:
- Engaging storytelling abilities to bring historical events and figures to life.
- Incorporate multimedia elements such as photos or videos to enhance the tour experience.
- Use humor and enthusiasm to keep participants entertained and interested.
- Encourage interaction and participation from tour participants through questions and discussions.
- Tailor the tour experience to the interests and preferences of the group whenever possible.
Working Conditions:
- Tours may take place outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Physical stamina required for extended periods of bike riding and standing.
