Engineering Intern

As an engineering intern, you will be placed into one of the groups within our engineering team which consists of: New Product Development, Metering Products, Sustaining Products, or T&Q Series Products. Within your assigned group, you will work with the Lead Product Design Engineer to plan and execute testing as required to validate designs and components, provide engineering support for product enhancements, and execute engineering product support projects.
What you’ll do:
- Work with the assigned engineering group to develop concepts with solid models, validate designs analytically, complete testing required to ensure product performance, and analyze, record, and report testing results.
- Take assigned product support projects from concept to production by managing complete project and associated tests, and coordinating release activities with sales, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality.
- Create 3-D models, assemblies, and 2-D prints as needed to validate concepts, communicate design intent and details.
- Specify and execute testing required to validate product enhancements, solutions to vendor or quality issues, and new concepts and designs.
- Provide written reports of testing results using the Wanner testing nomenclature and reporting templates.
- Provide frequent updates for supervisor on all projects assigned.
Qualifications
What you bring:
- Demonstrated above average academic standing while actively pursuing a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
- Experience with technical clubs or societies working in teams to achieve a technical goal.
- General knowledge of industrial equipment including regulating valves, pressure sensors/gages, flow meters.
- Understand the concept of VFDs AC and DC electric motors, solenoids, data acquisition methods, etc.
- Understanding of basic fluids and hydraulic principles, with ability to apply principles to positive displacement, hydraulic diaphragm and solenoid pumps.
- Ability to apply problem solving skills to engineering challenges by identifying inputs, analysis required, testing to validate analysis, and produce required outputs/solutions
- Knowledge required to provide empirical and analytical data with appropriate charts where applicable. It will also be required for this person to provide verbal insight into the data for any tendencies or anomalies following with written reports.
- Knowledge of general safety requirements when working with pressure vessels.
