Position Overview
The HR Generalist is a vital member of the Human Resources team and will play an important role in the culture, planning and strategy of the organization. The HRG will work with a team of human resource professionals to influence the design and delivery of all HR programs and initiatives. The HRG will have responsibilities for the day-to-day HR related functions for all levels of the multi-site, multi-shift organization in North America. Primary focus will be associated with the hourly workforce for manufacturing and service facilities, to include payroll, staffing, worker’s compensation administration, benefits administration, employee relations and other relevant HR support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Payroll administration for all pay groups (including Canadian group); weekly/bi-weekly processing and ongoing payroll maintenance; management of the external payroll service provider(s).
- Oversee payroll policies and procedures, supervising all information necessary for payroll, time records, wage reviews, internal transfers, and coordination with Managers/Supervisors.
- Maintenance of employee data in payroll and other internal data collection systems, to include overseeing the time and attendance system.
- Data analyst: report generation associated with payroll and employee data; regulatory reporting requirements.
- Manage the staffing process for hourly manufacturing workforce; to include temp-to-hire with staffing agencies; and/or direct hires. Responsibility includes all associated for New Hire Orientation and transition to full-time employment.
- Oversee maintenance of job vacancy control document; internal job posting process; bid review process.
- Host orientation for new employees (temp-to-hire, transition to full-time), to include a comprehensive understanding of all criteria associated with each class of employees.
- Evaluation of service and support of all staffing agency partnerships.
- Worker’s Compensation administration as the liaison between injured worker, the manager, and the WC carrier, to include coordination with the EHS Coordinator/Manager. Managing the injured worker’s treatment plan and claim process; to include OSHA 300 and 300A.
- Assist HR Coordinator with as needed with multiple HR requirements and employee programs, to include employment eligibility, unemployment, vacation programs, employment verifications, reference checks, birthday gift program, vending program management, uniform service program, wellness incentive program.
- Assist with employee appreciation activities/events.
- Administration of benefit programs and associated external vendor relationships, COBRA administration, ACA administration, annual vendor and plan design evaluations.
- Consult/advise employees on benefit eligibility, provisions, assist with questions, to include 401k administration.
- Be flexible and responsive to the needs of the business, the HR department as well as the needs of the employees.
- Provide guidance in policy and procedures to employees and management.
- Ensure an efficient, conflict-free, positive work environment for all employees.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2-year Associates degree in HR or related field; and/or 5 years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment; or extensive proven work experience in HR administration position
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in payroll administration – ADP proficiency necessary.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and use of specialized software
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

- Administrative strengths; accuracy, detailed-oriented
- Stress tolerance in sometimes difficult situations
- Effective planning/organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities in a fast-paced environment; ability to meet deadlines and timing requirements.
- Ability to work flexible schedule when necessary to accommodate a 3-shift workforce
- Minimal travel required.
