Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Bus Driver to transport students to and from school safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive a school bus safely and professionally, adhering to all traffic ordinances and school district policies.
- Perform daily pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
- Report any mechanical defects to the immediate superior and take necessary actions to address them.
- Check and fill the vehicle with fuel, and maintain a clean and organized interior and exterior.
- Instruct passengers on safety practices when entering and/or leaving the bus.
- Maintain orderly conduct of passengers while on the bus, and may be required to administer first aid to injured passengers.
- May be required to install and remove tire chains when necessary, and comply with all traffic ordinances and school district policies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- No points on driving record and ability to pass a physical, including a drug test, required.
- New York State CDL Class B with passenger and air brake endorsement required.
- Must satisfy requirements for School Bus Driver as set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State Commissioner of Education, New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, and New York State Department of Transportation.
Working Conditions
The Bus Driver will work in a fast-paced educational setting, interacting with students, parents, and staff. The position requires a high level of safety awareness, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
The Bus Driver will be required to work a varied schedule, including early morning and afternoon shifts, and may be required to work on weekends and holidays.
