Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly, dedicated, detail-oriented, highly motivated, inquisitive, and compassionate Optometric/Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the optometrist in providing top-notch patient care. Must be able to multitask and work in a fast paced environment. Must be willing to put patients 1st priority and the business 2nd. Must be willing to do more than the bare minimum and use critical thinking. This position involves a combination of clinical and administrative tasks.
Duties
- Assist the optometrist pre-exam, during the eye exams, and procedures.
- Record patient medical histories, including vital signs and medical records.
- Manage appointment scheduling and patient flow within the office.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options.
- Handle medical billing processes and ensure accurate coding for insurance claims.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and equipment.
- Utilize medical terminology effectively when communicating with patients and staff.
- Support retail operations by applying retail math for inventory management and sales transactions.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance patient experience and office efficiency.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to ophthalmology is preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy as it pertains to eye health is beneficial.
- Experience in a medical office setting is advantageous, particularly in roles involving patient interaction.
- Understanding of systems used for managing medical records and billing processes is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly to patients.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in retail or customer service is desirable but not mandatory.
