JOB TITLE: Financial Analyst
REPORTS TO: Director of Financial Planning & Analysis
OVERVIEW OF ROLE: Performs and assists in moderately complex analysis and research. Interprets, reports and communicates information providing recommendations to improve/enhance respective area. Is familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within this field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Supports strategic thinking and works on some projects that are assigned on an “as needed” basis. Works under general supervision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs duties based on the fundamental understanding of Ward Transport & Logistics Corp’s business, industry trends and the competitive environment.
- Performs analysis as requested for all Ward-owned entities.
- Assist in the annual budget planning process.
- Develop and update forecasting models as well as tracking results compared to forecasts.
- Conduct benchmarking and business studies as needed.
- Develops and maintains ongoing reports while highlighting trends and significant variances.
- Identifies and evaluates opportunities, issues, and solutions to logistics needs.
- Provides support to research and develops information upon which decision making can be based in strategic areas.
- Performs various cost benefit analysis and other ad hoc projects as needed.
- Is a team player with the ability to work with all departments and service centers.
- Fully support all technologies and processes that are intended to improve efficiencies and/or the customer experience. Support would include adherence to training programs, guidelines and processes associated with these systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS/BA in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
- Strong analytical and creativity skills are necessary to develop new methods and approaches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to work on multiple tasks accurately and within set deadlines.
- Knowledge of balance sheet, income statements, and cash flow statements is preferred.
- Must be detailed oriented.
- Must be a team player with the ability to work with all departments and service centers.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
