We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, customer focused, and safety focused, Yard Foreman to join our team at our Livermore Falls, Maine location. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, (a good driving record is helpful but not necessary) and a customer-focused attitude.

The Yard Foreman is responsible to set an example of excellent customer service and ensure all staff perform to the same high standard. Assists in overseeing yard operations and yard personnel to achieve a successful balance of customer satisfaction and yard profitability. Supervises employee workflow appropriately & effectively. This position will require cooperation with management, corporate leadership, sales team, purchasing, and all staff at the store level. This position reports to the Store Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow all company policies, safety standards, comply with all state and federal traffic and requirements.
• Ensure staff follow all company policies and all safety standards.
• Ensure prompt, courteous service in the yard.
• Assist pick-up customers in the yard in a prompt, professional manner with accuracy.
• Manage the deliveries or coordinate with the Dispatcher for efficiency while ensuring customer commitments are met.
• Trains and validates quality picking standards.
• Motivates staff through effective delegation and follow-up.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with all team members.
• Ensures vehicle inspections are done daily, load is secure, and no unsafe vehicle or load leaves the yard.
• Unload product on job site to customer expectation by following written or verbal instructions and communicate with customer in a professional and service focused manner.
• Inspects & manages efforts to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
• Reports damage to equipment, inventory, and facility to immediate supervisor the day it occurs.
• Responsible for accuracy of receivables coming into the yard.
• Ensure that directives from the Manager are carried out in a timely and accurate manner.
• Communicate regularly with the Manager regarding inventory levels, employee progress, safety procedures, and general yard efficiency.
• Ensures proper stock rotation and re-stocking of material.
• Perform other tasks and responsibilities as deemed necessary by supervisory staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous yard management experience preferred or two years as a Yard Attendant.
• Possess a valid state Class A, B, or C driver’s license with a clean driving record for 3 years.
• Must be approved by Company insurance program to be able to drive.
• Ability to respond to hazards while driving and drive safely regardless of weather and time of day.
• Experience in the building supply and lumber industry preferred.
• High level of communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work under limited supervision.
• Must have computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft products.
• Possess a high level of customer service skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and act upon written language.
• Ability to perform basic math; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to repeatedly lift objects up to 50 lbs with or without accommodations and load and unload trucks by hand.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and twist repeatedly throughout the workday.

Working Conditions:
This position is performed in an open warehouse and out in the elements. The Yard Attendant/Material Handler will be subjected to high heat, rain, snow, and cold.

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
