The Civil Engineering Site Inspector will be part of our team working on the construction of a large industrial project in Port St Lucie County, Florida. Construction will be ongoing 6 days per week and up to 10-hours per day. The individual will perform a variety of tasks and assignments related to oversight of the construction of site improvements in accordance with design specifications and guidelines, and as required by the jurisdiction having authority. Specific inspection items include traffic control, erosion controls, layout, drainage and utilities, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision. The individual will be expected to keep daily logs of work completed by the contractor and participate in regular OAC meetings. The individual must be local to Port St Lucie County or be willing to relocate before starting work.
This is a 9 to 12-month contract position.
Your Role
- Maintain proactive and consistent communication with your direct supervisor
- Manage construction phase services including contract administration and construction monitoring through project closeout
- Construction administration responsibilities including client coordination, response to RFI’s, processing of change orders, shop drawing review, construction schedule approval and pay applications
- Work efficiently within a dynamic team of engineers, architects, and contractors
- Interpret and represent client needs and requirements in the field
- Insure that project standards and specifications are being followed
- Develop on time and accurate Daily Construction Reports, including photos of site investigations
- Troubleshoot construction issues providing alternate solutions and value engineering in collaboration with engineering team and Client.
- Provide construction observation training and mentoring of junior staff
- Contribute to the team’s culture and brand image
Qualifications
- Preferred four (4) years of experience in construction inspection for site related projects including water/sewer, roadway, stormwater, facility design, land development, etc.
- Valid state driver’s license and vehicle
- Highly analytical and organized
- Strong understanding of construction site safety practices
- Strong understanding of municipal/government agencies, specifications, details, and processes.
- Knowledge of construction entitlement process
- Strong and creative problem-solving abilities
- High adaptability to change
- Adept at conflict resolution
- Ability to read project specs in design drawings
- Unwavering integrity and ethical standards
- Effective planning, prioritizing, and goal-setting abilities.
- Ability to understand Client goals and recognize how decisions could affect critical objectives.

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, licensing, project specialty/complexity and work location. At Ware Malcomb certain roles are bonus eligible.
