What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker position at Wareham High School?
Wareham High School is seeking a Social Worker for the Therapeutic Learning Center Program. The Social Worker reports to the building principal. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Providing individual and group counseling for students with social/emotional/behavioral challenges
• Collaborating with substantially separate staff, parent/guardians, and administration to provide a comprehensive therapeutic learning environment and wrap-around services
• Coordinating with the behaviorist to establish Behavior Intervention Plans or safety plans when needed
• Providing classroom and school-wide behavior management strategies
• Under the supervision of the building principal, the Social Worker will provide diversified strategies and activities specifically designed for targeted students
• Assisting staff in defining and measuring behavior; understanding principles of reinforcement; teaching new behavior; implementing strategies for weakening behavior; and identifying antecedents
• Collaborating with staff to design Behavior Intervention Plans; addresses classroom organization, effective instruction, social skills instruction, and ethical issues; School-wide Positive Behavior Support; and factors that affect effectiveness
• Writing and addressing Counseling goals for student’s IEPs, attending annual review meetings, and monitoring quarterly progress.
