What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Psychologist position at Wareham Public Schools?
QUALIFICATIONS:
Massachusetts Licensure as a School Psychologist (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education)
Relevant experience preferred, demonstrating specific experience in assessment of intelligence, cognitive functions and social/emotional development
At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
Master degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required
Job Description:
-Conduct psycho-educational evaluations for referred students
-Prepare evaluation reports
-Present findings and recommendations at Evaluation Team meetings.
-Member of Evaluation Team determining appropriate general education interventions, eligibility for special education services and accommodations per the requirements of Section 504
-Provide counseling for students with counseling goals
-Provide guidance and consult to self-contained Special Education Program staff
-Oversee the referral process
-Review student files and prep all attendees and materials several days ahead of time
-Ensure meetings stay within the parameters set forth
-Seek partnership between home and school to serve the best interests of the student
-Additional duties as assigned by the building principal or the director of student services
-Coordinate testing and diagnostic procedures including psychological and counseling services as they relate to special education.
-Understand and implement federal, state, and local laws, policies, regulations, and procedures and protocols including the implications of liability and requirements of due process
