What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety/Continuous Improvement Manager position at Warehouse Specialists, LLC?
Our Safety/Continuous Improvement Manager will work collaboratively with the customer, employees, and contractors to support and drive safety and continuous improvement in all areas of the operation. This full-time salary position will primarily work Monday – Friday between 7 AM – 4 PM, but must be able to flex hours as needed.
Duties and Accountabilities:
- Maintain the safest work environment possible for all employees by actively leading the WSI-NCSF safety program
- Support and mentor Lift Truck Trainer
- Investigate and review incident reports, metrics and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment
- Collaborate with KC Team on sitewide safety and CI initiatives
- Assist leadership in developing thorough, effective and timely continuous improvement plans to address business needs
- Maintain and support Logistics team through our annual OPEX plan to improve and maintain KPI’s
- Build strong working relationships by engaging team members at all levels of the organization, creating feedback loops to share information and results, and empowering people to initiate Lean concepts
- At the request and direction of our customer, work as needed on high priority, customer-driven initiatives to improve site safety, performance and capability
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner in both verbal and written communications
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to learn, follow and coach proper procedure
- Demonstrated ability to be solution oriented when faced with challenges or setbacks
- Must be self-motivated, have a sense of urgency and take personal responsibility to drive improvements
- Must be comfortable with rapid change, able to recognize others’ resistance to change, and lead individuals and teams through the change process
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or related field, or comparable combination of education/experience
- Previous experience working in a warehouse environment
- Training related to continuous improvement and Lean methodology
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Physical Capabilities and Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to use hands and fingers for computer keyboarding and answer phone calls
- Ability to communicate via the telephone using speaking and hearing skills
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniforms that are provided by the company
