Substitute Warehouse Delivery Drivers are limited to working 600 hours per school year.
Position Overview:
The Substitute Warehouse Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of educational supplies, materials, food, and equipment to schools within the district. This role ensures timely distribution, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to all safety and operational guidelines. The substitute will step in as needed to maintain continuity in warehouse and delivery operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service to school personnel and district staff.
- Safely operate delivery vehicles in compliance with traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load, transport, and unload cargo, ensuring secure and efficient handling of items.
- Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to ensure timely and cost-effective distribution.
- Operate a forklift as needed.
- Deliver food goods, school mail, and supplies for Food Service, Office, and Custodial departments.
- Pick up items for return as directed.
- Report any vehicle or equipment issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure district vehicles and warehouse equipment are maintained and in safe working condition.
- Assist in warehouse maintenance, including cleaning and organizing storage areas.
- Assume Warehouse Assistant responsibilities in their absence.
- Adhere to all district and department policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must be able to work in freezer and cooler units and stock shelves.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Must be able to drive delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Flexible schedule to accommodate varying food delivery times.
- Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members.
- Ability to work under stress while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
- Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable attendance is required.
Work Environment:
- Warehouse setting with exposure to cold storage areas.
- Regular lifting, bending, and physical labor involved.
- Driving in various weather conditions.
This is an on-call, as-needed position that provides essential support to the warehouse and distribution operations of the district.
