JOB SUMMARY
This position transports intradistrict mail, makes vendor pickups; loads, unloads, sorts, packs, and arranges supplies and equipment for shipment to schools and other district locations; delivers supplies and equipment to schools and departments; arranges for transport of returnable items to warehouse; transports school lunches to satellite schools. Must be able to work independently and maintain required logs, paperwork, and documentation related to assigned pickups and deliveries; assists warehouse personnel as needed; performs other job-related as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary in consultation with the employee(s) involved. Not all employees in this classification will necessarily perform all functions:
- Provides intra-district mail transportation.
- Picks up, delivers and unloads furniture between District locations.
- Loads, unloads, sorts, packs and arranges inventory and supplies and equipment for shipment to schools and other district locations.
- Delivers supplies and equipment to schools and departments.
- Arranges for transport of returnable items to warehouse facility.
- Retrieves and logs surplus items and arranges for storage at warehouse pending proper disbursement or disposal.
- Retrieves materials, parts and supplies from vendors, as requested.
- Transport’s school lunches from production kitchens to satellite schools.
- Makes daily pick-up of site receipts and delivers to appropriate location.
- Maintains and fills-out all necessary paperwork related to pick-ups and deliveries, such as logs, receipts, and bills of lading.
- Picks-up, inventories, logs, and prepares for the proper disposal of surplus District property.
- Assists other Warehouse personnel, as assigned.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to Warehouse Supervisor and/or Warehouse Foreperson.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; requires visual concentration on detail, dexterity, and precision; must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and work in tight and confined spaces; ability to drive vehicles with manual transmissions, heavy duty trucks, forklift, pallet jacks, and hand trucks; must have physical ability to perform heavy outside work in all types of weather, and be able to work in cold storage lockers; availability to work swing, and or late shifts; must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds; experiences interruptions. Mandatory, random drug testing.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Training and Experience
Experience in warehouse work, with background in delivery/courier services.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General knowledge and ability in the operation of box trucks, and warehouse equipment. Ability to apply knowledge of warehouse operations. Skill in problem resolution. Ability to work independently. Ability to read, write, speak, calculate, and communicate effectively. Ability to maintain timely and accurate records. Ability to learn to operate computers and learn specific software programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. Ability to lift to 50 pounds and work in outdoor and inclement weather, as well as in cold storage lockers. Ability to exercise good judgment, remain flexible, and work effectively under pressure. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be committed to the strategic plan mission statement and objectives.
Licenses/Special Requirements
Possess Washington State Driver’s License and maintain good driving record. Optional Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (NOT REQUIRED). Possess Forklift Operator’s License (may be obtained after employment, but within the 90 days probationary period for permanent employment). Must be bondable.
SALARY $24.94 Hourly. Salary is based upon the current 2023-24 Warehouse Salary Schedule; placement on the salary schedule will be determined by Human Resources DOE. FLSA Non-Exempt.
WORK YEAR Temporary hourly position; schedule and hours will vary as needed.
