Your New Role…
CNN Digital is looking for a Media Coordinator of Post Production Operations for the New York bureau. This is an entry-level workflow and technology-focused role across media and post production for CNN Digital Video. On the Digital Video Operations team, we need a one person “get it done squad” to interface with producers and editors, ingest original footage they’ve shot, organize it into our cloud library and cloud production server, accurately tag it with metadata, track and assist with projects in progress, export deliverables to spec, answer questions, and troubleshoot problems as they arise. If you have experience with media asset management, post production software (especially Adobe Premiere Pro), and hardware (both Mac and PC), along with great attention to detail and organizational skills, this is an opportunity for you to grow in a fast-paced news and documentary production environment.
Your Role Accountabilities…
- Be in sync with the Post Production Operations team on workflow priorities and user needs across the CNN teams we support. You will be expected to learn our systems, own your responsibilities as assigned, and come back for more – while reporting progress and proactively identifying ways to help our stakeholders work more smoothly.
- Ingest and tag assets in our Iconik media asset management system. Maintain library metadata including clear taxonomy as assigned. Handle archiving and retrieval of assets. Take direction from and partner with the Media Supervisor to grow the CNN Digital Video library.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of our post production workstations as instructed. Take direction from and partner with the Post Production Supervisor to ensure our Macs and PCs are set up properly and running smoothly.
- Go into Adobe Premiere Pro projects and perform assistant editor tasks in coordination with producers, such as syncing interviews, organizing footage, exporting clean deliverables, and troubleshooting crashes or other issues.
- Respond to user-reported issues that are impacting production, and coordinate solutions.
Qualifications & Experience…
- 2 years experience in post production environments. Must show experience, aptitude, and interest in the technological aspects of video editing, media management, file movement, file naming, and troubleshooting computers and software.
- Great technical and creative understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro and Media Encoder. Examples of your editing and project organization are encouraged. Assistant editing experience a plus.
- Prior experience with media asset management systems, digital libraries, or anything related to organizing large amounts of visual assets.
- Curiosity and a desire to solve problems. If you like technology, want to help people find that perfect shot, and be part of editing high quality news content, this is the role for you.
- Prior work in a fast-paced news, sports, or documentary content creation environment desired.
- Ability to work nights and weekends if needed to support post production.
