Your New Role…
CNN is looking for a Manager for the Newsource Newsgathering team!
Your Role Accountabilities:
The Newsource Newsgathering Manager is a real-time leader of CNN’s affiliate news service. The position serves as the liaison between CNN news platforms, Newsource Sales/Operations and CNN's more than 1,000 partners throughout the U.S. and Canada, two hundred international broadcasters, and the branded channels of CNN.
The role directs the daily workflow of the editorial teams responsible for newsgathering of breaking news, and regional content promptly to CNN and affiliate partners of CNN. Consistently strategizes on ways to build constructive interaction with the varying CNN networks and platforms.
Manages and maintains the level of editorial expertise needed of the big stories in all domestic regions and around the world. Manages procedures, practices, and policies of Newsource Newsgathering as they pertain to regional affiliate newsgathering. Works with team to be aggressive on stories to bring into the network and ensure the proper affiliate editorial information and content is being disseminated.
The position also works closely with CNN Newsource Sales to help build relationships with clients and to ensure affiliates consistently understand the value of the affiliate news service.
Also works closely with Newsource domestic Sales in tandem with the Content Producer team to have periodic checks in with local news directors to make sure the best service possible is being provided.
Performance manages Newsource Newsgathering Content Producers. Ensures team exceeds expectations of NS clients and internal partners by championing collaboration and team behaviors.
Creates a climate of innovation and experimentation to ensure Content Producers maintain strong affiliate relationships, refine processes, and build an invested team.
Qualifications & Experience…
Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communication or like field of study preferred or equivalent in experience
5 years plus editorial experience in broadcast news, preferably with local newsroom or local news groups leadership experience
24/7 availability and flexibility
Leads by example and champions organizational strategies and goals
Empowers employees through delegation, feedback, and coaching
Selects, retains, rewards, and develops top talent
Makes "tough calls" on performance issues in a timely, fair and consistent manner
Desired:
Knowledge or experience with non-linear editing
Local market, affiliate group or affiliate news service experience
Sets challenging objectives and demonstrates a clear sense of urgency
Allocates time and resources effectively
Accepts additional challenges and responsibilities
