Summary Description:
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Kinesiology and Sports Medicine reports to the Dean of the Division of Natural Sciences and Health and is responsible for teaching classes in Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Health, Exercise Science and other areas; serving on committees; and advising students in the Division of Natural Sciences and Health. At WPU, Kinesiology and Sports Medicine is designed primarily to serve student athletes majoring in Kinesiology, Sport Medicine, and Sport Management.

Essential Functions:
  • Teach assigned courses.
  • Articulate and model current best practices in teaching.
  • Review, edit and develop curriculum related to area of expertise.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Serve on faculty and institutional committees as assigned.
  • Work collegially with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Understand and promote the mission, values, and core themes of WPU.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills in all interactions with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Support and contribute to the implementation of the WPU Strategic Plan.
  • Participate in WPU professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to WPU policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate commitment to a Christian Liberal Arts education by upholding the mission of the WPU and abiding by the Employment Standards and Lifestyle Agreement.
  • Exhibit commitment to inclusiveness and sensitivity in areas of national origin, ethnicity, culture, gender, and disabilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Athletic Training, or closely related fields.
  • College teaching experience in relevant curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ph.D. in a related discipline.
  • Spanish-speaking.
  • Ability to educate and mentor adult learners as well as traditional students.
Physical Demands – Work Environment: 
The position is located in a typical office environment.  Professional/business casual attire is required.
