 Warning Lites of MN is a leading subcontractor in the roadway pavement marking industry.   We are looking to add highly motivated individuals willing to learn our trade of installing pavement markings (white/yellow lines, turn arrows, stop bars, reflectors, etc.) on our roadways as Pavement Markers (PM).  Work schedules include days, nights, and weekend work. Per Diem for meals and hotel expenses paid when overnight travel required.  

The Role:

As a Pavement Marker, your responsibilities will include:

• General labor, layout of roadways, traffic control, driving backup cushion trucks, operating hand equipment; blowers & grinders, feeding melters, and minor truck maintenance.
• Working as part of a crew responsible for calculating and proper placement of materials as designed, or required to apply pavement markings, signs, or other such road marking materials. Dependent upon the project, it may require installation of signs, road markers, or other traffic indicators, which require carrying supplies, digging, pounding and fastening for installation
• Lift, carry, load and unload materials and equipment such as paving materials, marking supplies, sign, safety cones, stencils, spraying and extruding equipment, etc.

• Lay out, stripe, paint and maintain lane lines, center lines, crosswalks, turn arrows, stop bars, railroad crossings, parking stalls, curbs, and other pavement markings

• Operate and maintain a variety of equipment for the application of roadway striping and maintenance of traffic control markings, which include propane torches, blowers & grinders, feeding melters and paint stripers etc.

The Basics:

PM’s don’t mind the Minnesota weather and have a high regard for safety and excellent customer service. Successful candidates enjoy the physical demands of the position, are highly self-motivated, detailed, and take initiative to get the job done right while managing multiple tasks at once. This position does not require previous experience-we provide on-the-job training for the tasks that the PM will need to perform but we do require the following:

• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (as determined by our insurance company)
• Able to utilize GPS applications and read a map
• Ability to work long hours during Spring/Summer/Fall months
• Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and an occasional holiday
• Must be able to travel overnight and be out of town for days at a time.
• Must have the ability to lift and carry heavy objects (70 pounds), walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
• Ability to safely use miscellaneous pavement prep and marking tools, such as shovels, sledge hammers, chalk boxes and snapping lines, brushes and brooms.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience with equipment, vehicles, and diesel mechanics
• Must have the ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Must have working knowledge of English sufficient enough to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information
• Experience performing manual labor

Preferred:

• Driving experience in professional setting
• Class A or B CDL license
• Record of consistent work experience

 We offer:

• Competitive hourly starting pay - $20 - $22/hr depending on experience and licensure - opportunity to earn $35,000-$70,000 /season yr.
• Opportunity for Prevailing Wage ($50 /hr.; depends on contract), prevailing wage jobs earn overtime for working more than 8 hours per day
