Overview: As a CM Management Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring effective configuration management practices are in place across the organization. You will work to establish, maintain, and optimize the configuration management system, ensuring that products, systems, and processes align with established requirements and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configuration Management System Setup:
o Design, implement, and maintain the organization's configuration management system in line with industry best practices and organizational requirements.
- Configuration Identification:
o Establish processes for identifying and defining the configuration items (CIs) that need to be managed.
o Develop a systematic approach to naming, numbering, and labeling CIs to maintain consistency and traceability.
- Configuration Control:
o Implement procedures for managing changes to CIs, ensuring proper documentation, approval, and tracking of changes throughout the change lifecycle.
o Monitor and enforce the change control process to maintain the integrity of the configuration baseline.
- Configuration Status Accounting:
o Develop methods to record and report the status of CIs and their associated changes throughout the development and operational life cycles.
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date configuration records, including versions, baselines, and release history.
- Configuration Audits and Reviews:
o Conduct periodic configuration audits and reviews to ensure compliance with established configuration management processes and standards.
o Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify discrepancies, propose corrective actions, and validate the effectiveness of corrective measures.
- Release and Deployment Management:
o Coordinate with release and deployment teams to ensure that released products and updates align with the approved and documented configuration baselines.
o Develop release plans and documentation to support effective deployment and distribution of configurations.
- Process Improvement:
o Continuously evaluate and enhance configuration management processes, tools, and procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with organizational goals.
o Identify and propose areas for automation and optimization to streamline configuration management activities.
- Training and Knowledge Sharing:
o Provide training and guidance to team members and stakeholders on configuration management principles, processes, and tools.
o Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice dissemination to ensure a consistent understanding and application of configuration management across the organization.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred- Three (3) to Five (5) years proven experience in configuration management, preferably in a leadership or management role.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools and software (e.g., Git, SVN, Jira, ClearCase).
- Understanding of configuration management standards (e.g., CMII, ISO 10007) and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to lead and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
