Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or work towards a master’s degree in either Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction, Administration, or Leadership.
- Serves on a leadership committee(s) such as BLT or District Literacy Leadership Team.
- Participation in outside literacy trainings/professional developments.
- Outstanding attendance as demonstrated by 95% or higher in the last two years.
- Experience presenting or facilitating professional development.
- Expertise in the Science of Reading and its implications for instruction and student outcomes
- Versed in the District’s adopted curricular materials
- Design and facilitate professional development for teachers
- Be fully knowledgeable on national, state, or local initiatives such as, but not limited to, Ohio’s Plan to Raise Literacy, Third Grade Reading Guarantee, Dyslexia, and the District Reading Achievement Plan
- Have a strong command of Ohio’s ELA standards, ELA OSTs, NWEA Map Growth/Fluency, and all district literacy assessments
- Provide support to teachers through modeling, teacher data conferences, collaboration, co-planning, and other coaching strategies
- Facilitate the development and implementation of District ELA curriculum (maps/pacing) and assessments
- Monitor assessment data and assist teachers with data interpretation in order to make formative instructional shifts
- Attend and participate in professional development and/or training sessions including those outside of the school day and in the summer
- Actively participate in coaching sessions with the District Literacy Coordinator and/or Director
- Willingness to participate and lead on various district leadership teams (BLT/TBT/DLT)
- Responsible for inventory to include ordering and distribution of instructional materials
- Collaborate with other literacy coaches/district coordinators on addressing building and district needs
- Work with Building Principal, Curriculum Liaisons, and Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction to develop and implement daily coaching and intervention schedules that will address the needs of both teachers and students
- Initiate building or district wide literacy activities for staff, students, and/or families
- Provide open communication for staff and families regarding literacy
- Maintain a flexible schedule with regard to assigned work days and hours to accommodate the demands of the position, including but not limited to evenings, weekends and days in the summer.
- Responsive to the needs of the students
- Abide by the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the Warren City School District Board of Education.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Building Principal and/or the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction or their designee
