TEACHER ON SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT - MATH COACH

Qualifications: 
Current valid Ohio Teaching License with preference given to individuals with math certification and evidence of effective math instruction.  (E.g. K-8, EL 1-8, EC P-3, with 4-5 endorsement, P-5 or Middle Childhood 4-9 Mathematics)
 
Additional Desired Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or work towards a master’s degree in either Mathematics, Curriculum and Instruction, Administration, or Leadership
• Serves on a leadership committee(s) such as BLT or District Math Leadership Team
• Participation in outside math trainings/professional developments
• Outstanding attendance as demonstrated by 95% or higher in the last two years
• Experience presenting or facilitating professional development

Duties:

1. Have a deep knowledge and understanding of evidence/researched based mathematical instructional practices
2. Versed in the District’s adopted curricular materials
3. Design and facilitate professional development for teachers
4. Have a strong command of Ohio’s Mathematical standards, Math OSTs, NWEA Map (Math), and all district math assessments
5. Provide support to teachers through modeling, teacher data conferences, collaboration, co-planning, and other coaching strategies
6. Facilitate the development and implementation of District math curriculum (including, but not limited to, maps/pacing) and assessments
7. Collect and monitor assessment data and assist teachers with data interpretation in order to make formative instructional shifts
8. Attend and participate in professional development and/or training sessions including those outside of the school day and in the summer
9. Actively participate in coaching sessions with the District Math Coordinator and/or Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction
10. Willingness to participate and lead on various district leadership teams (BLT/TBT/DLT)
11. Responsible for inventory to include ordering and distribution of instructional materials
12. Collaborate with other math coaches/coordinators on addressing building and district needs
13. Work with Building Principal, Curriculum Liaisons, and Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction to develop and implement daily coaching and intervention schedules that will address the needs of both teachers and students
14. Initiate building or district wide math activities for staff, students, and/or families
15. Provide open communication for staff and families regarding mathematics
16.  A flexible schedule is required with regard to assigned work days and hours to accommodate the demands of the position, including but not limited to before and after school hours, weekends and days in the summer
17. Responsive to the needs of the students 
18. Abide by the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the Warren City School District Board of Education. 
19. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Building Principal and/or the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Superintendent/CEO, or their designee
