Job Summary : Serves as a process specialist for front end and back end professional billing revenue cycle staffs ensuring the goal of shortening the revenue cycle.
Minimum Education : High School Diploma or GED.
Licensure, Registration and / or Certification : None.
Work Experience : 3 - 4 years related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Basic computer skills including Outlook, Word and Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of CPT and ICD9 coding.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities : Trains and assists front and back end professional billing revenue cycle staff members in daily operations. Monitors performance and communicates issues to the management staff. Recommends improvements for the front / back end interface. Utilizes IDX functionality effectively and efficiently and is proactive in resolving problems and suggesting new procedures and processes. Provides accounts receivable management, including patient registration and scheduling, posting, fee schedules, reimbursement, claims filing, remittance and rejection processes. Is responsible for writing procedures, improving processes and mentoring coworkers.
Decision Making : Independent judgment in making decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision.
Working Relationships : Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise) Leads others in same work performed (does not supervise) Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction Works with other healthcare professionals and staff Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above
