General Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Summer Lawn Care Specialist to join our team. As a Lawn Care Specialist on our team, you operate mowers, leaf blowers, weed eaters, and other common tools to create and maintain carefully manicured outdoor spaces. We are especially interested in candidates with prior experience in lawn care, custodial, maintenance, and/or ground maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with common lawn care equipment
- Prior experience or work in lawn maintenance (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience with weeding and flower bed maintenance
- Demonstrated experience operating landscaping machinery (weed eater, lawnmower)
- Ability to work as a team member (will assist summer custodial staff when needed)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Technology skills appropriate for the position (email, Internet use, etc.)
- Reliable and self-motivated
- Able to lift upwards of 50 pounds and bend, lift, and stand for extended periods
- High School Diploma or GED AND must be 18 years of age
- History of good job attendance
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Must pass a criminal background check
Essential Functions:
- Use mowers, weed eaters, and common hand tools to trim grass, edge lawn areas, and maintain nearby plants and foliage
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, maintaining energy and pace along with the team
- Operate leaf blowers and gather grass and hedge trimmings for removal
- Drive a truck to various client locations and ensure proper storage of equipment during transport
- Assist custodial staff when needed
- Other duties as assigned
Terms of Employment: Workdays and salary as adopted by the Board of Education
Salary: $18.12 per hour
Contract: Hours worked, hours paid
