POSITION:                                Systems Support Engineer
REPORTS TO:                          Director of Informational Technology or Designee
EMPLOYMENT STATUS:         Full-Time-40/hrs per week 


QUALIFICATIONS:      
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree in related area preferred
  • CompTIA A and Network certified or close to completion
  • Windows Operating Systems experience – installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting of Windows 10, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022
  • Experience with HP/Aruba network switch configuration and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Apps for Education
  • Experience with computer and network equipment installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of software applications
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.                                     
  • Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
 
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 
The Systems Support Engineer assists the Director of IT in the ongoing programs/plans to support the use of technology and the computer network system at the Warren County Career Center. The Systems Support Engineer will work in such a manner to ensure the best education possible for the Secondary and Adult Education programs. The Systems Support Engineer shall uphold the leadership initiative set forth by the Director of Technology as it relates to support of the employees, students and all others in relation to the Warren County Career Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the District Technology Plan.
  • Install, test, monitor and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, application software and all configurations.
  • Implement security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Create electronic data backup to prevent loss of information.
  • Identify information technology project resource requirements.
  • Recommend changes to improve computer or information systems.
  • Collaborate with others to resolve information technology issues.
  • Train others in computer interface or software use.
  • Document network-related activities or tasks.
  • Conduct research to gain information about products or processes.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of technology utilized by the district and industry as a whole.

  • Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
  • Demonstrates a willingness to acquire knowledge and skills to meet new challenges
  • Is punctual and thorough in the implementation of assigned duties
  • Conducts and presents position in a professional manner.  (e.g. appearance, language, mannerisms)
  • Is professional and courteous at all times
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual and thorough in the implementation of assigned duties
  • Takes precautions to ensure staff and student safety
  • Maintains confidentiality of student information and records
  • Performs any and all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, his/her designee, or the employee’s direct supervisor or his/her designee
 
KNOWLEDGE OF:  Computer and network systems, applications, procedures and techniques.
 
ABILITY TO:  Communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel.  Install, repair, configure and maintain district network, and related hardware and software.  Uses appropriate process to document networking problem resolution; logs assignments and completion of assignments as required; establishes and maintains effective proactive relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
 
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:
  • Occasional: Exposure to severe weather, traffic, blood, bodily fluids and tissue, light lifting (up to 50 pounds), travel to remote sites, attend functions and perform duties outside normal working hours.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Periodic: Exposure to loud noise, irritating and hazardous chemicals, fumes, and unruly children and adults.
  • Frequent: Prolonged periods of standing and lifting (10-20 pounds) of supplies and materials. Bending, stooping and reaching for items. Follow all Board safety rules and procedures.  Participate in the school safety training when requested.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Workdays and salary as adopted by the Board of Education, range $22.72 - $32.33 per hour.
