REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree with Kentucky Certification in Administration and Supervision on level of assignment (Principal
Certification)
Three (3) years of successful teaching experience
Satisfactory performance on District administrative application processes
Satisfactory interviews with Superintendent designees
Satisfactory record of job history and performance
Effective communication skills
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Rank I with Kentucky Certification in Administration and Supervision on level of assignment (Principal
Certification)
Successful experience as an Assistant Principal
Experience with/working knowledge of current school programs and procedures
Demonstrated ability to work with various groups including those with diversified background
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Principal assumes responsibility for planning, implementing, supervising, and maintaining all school
programs to ensure academic, fiscal, and educational effectiveness.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES & EVALUATION CRITERIA
Takes immediate charge of and direction of the school as mandated under the Warren County Board of Education
Policy and/or School Council
Maintains effective learning climate in the school
Provides proper supervision of pupils at all times
Establishes guidelines for proper student conduct and maintains student discipline
Enforces appropriate state and federal regulations, School Board policies, administrative directives, and
accreditation standards
Develops and maintains effective public relations with the school community
Establishes and maintains favorable relationship with local community groups and individuals to foster
understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs
Serves as the instructional leader and guides, facilitates, and supports the curriculum, instruction, and
assessment
WARREN COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Works with appropriate Central Office Administrative Officers regarding needs of the school with respect to
personnel, equipment, supplies, and curriculum
Supervises, evaluates, and counsels all staff members regarding their individual performance
Conducts staff meetings to keep staff informed of policy changes, new programs and to implement professional
development programs
Cooperates with college and university officials regarding teacher training and preparation
Mentor newly assigned staff members and assist in their development as appropriate
Manages and maintains appropriate records for all local school fiscal affairs in accordance with state and
system-wide accounting practices
Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or appropriate
to the school’s administration
Prepares and submits the school’s budgetary requests and monitors the expenditure of funds
Provides leadership to the school based decision-making council and related committees
Provides leadership for the planning, management, and supervision of the athletics program
Provides leadership for the planning, management and supervision of an extensive extra-curricular program
Provides leadership and direction of guidance programs
Informs Superintendent of school successes, activities, and challenges
Participates in principals’ meetings and all other required trainings/meetings
Stays abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading
professional journals/publications, and discussing challenges of mutual interest with others in the field
Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is performed while standing or walking. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and
fine manipulations. The work at times requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, with the ability
to lift, carry, push or pull light weights.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
School Principals shall be employed for 12 months. Salary and supplement shall be commensurate with the
adopted certified personnel salary schedule and supplement schedule. Leave accrual will be as stated in Board
Policy.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provision of Warren County Board of Education
policy on evaluation of certified personnel. Evaluations will be conducted by the Superintendent and/or
assigned designee.
