Warren General Hospital is hiring a third shift, full-time professional staff nurse for our behavioral health team.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Also directs and guides patient teaching, activities of nursing an ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
JOB DUTIES:
- Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
- Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases and uses available resources in assessment process.
- Demonstrates ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Participates in discharge plan using all available resources and identifies need for care at home or alternatives such as outpatient treatment, extended care facility, etc.
- Performs point of care testing (POCT), including testing, documentation, and quality control with skill and accuracy as directed by the medical director of laboratory services in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patient.
- Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
- Respects dignity and confidentiality of patient serving as an advocate as necessary and providing a safe and secure environment for the patient
WORK/ EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing is required
- Must be currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in Pennsylvania, or eligible

Pay: $28.30 - $39.57 per hour
