Job Overview
As a Summer Day Camp Site Director at WSRA, you will work with individuals of varying ages and disabilities, providing hands-on support, building meaningful relationships, and making an impact on those that we serve. The Site Director is responsible for the organization, implementation, and evaluation of summer camp recreation programs.
Qualifications
- Age 18 or older
- Must go through Summer Day Camp Orientation
- Have experience or a desire to learn and work with individuals with disabilities
- Certification in First Aid and CPR, or the ability to obtain it prior to the start of this position
Dates: June 9-August 8, 2025 plus training and planning time prior to start date.
Hours: 8:15 AM - 3:45 PM (or until 5:15 PM if needed)
Duties
- Create and implement day camp/recreational activities for participants; adapt activities, rules, equipment, and/or supplies as needed to ensure quality participation and independent participation possible
- Provide supervision of summer camp program, camp counselors, volunteers, and camp participants
- Be alert and responsive to the health and safety of the participants and staff
- Attend Day Camp Orientation and Site Director weekly meetings
- Maintain the program binder containing up-to-date documentation and forms
- Complete General Paperwork (attendance, expenses, incident forms)
- If over 21, bus driving responsibilities (optional)
- Perform all job tasks within the rules and regulations of the Agency’s policies, procedures, and safety program
- Actively participate in camp (daily preparation and clean up, staff assignments)
- Role model appropriate behavior for staff and campers
- Communicate with parents daily (daily report form, behavior issues, parental input)
- Monitor participant transportation to and from programs, focusing and addressing medical, safety, and behavioral needs. Report concerns to driver.
Participant Supervision
- Ensure that all campers are supervised at all times by camp counselors
- Ensure that all activities are adapted for each camper
- Ensure that all campers with medication have them on site
- Ensure that all camper's needs are being met (toileting, feeding, water breaks)
- Restrain campers physically per Handle with Care Training (as needed)
- Assist in creating and implementing behavior management plans as needed
- Lift, move, or transfer campers (as needed) using proper lifting techniques
Staff/Volunteer Supervision
- Ensure that staff are doing daily preparation and clean up
- Enforce staff accountability for campers
- Complete Accident/Incident reports as needed
- Assign campers to staff
- Ensure that staff have the needed information regarding their campers (e.g. AIF information, behavior plans, etc.)
- Be available for staff to discuss problems or issues with campers or other staff
- Assign staff specific preparatory and clean-up duties
Medication
- Ensure appropriate receipt of medication from parents
- Check camp bags daily for medication
- Ensure that medication is properly stored in a locked area
- Keep a log of medication distribution
- Ensure that medication is obtained for field trips and kept nearby
- Ensure that empty pill bottles are sent home for refills

Working Conditions
This position operates indoors in classrooms, gymnasiums, multi-purpose rooms, and exercise rooms, as well as outdoors at different activity fields, parks, playgrounds, etc. The noise level can range from quiet to loud. When working inside conditions can include different types of lighting and temperatures. When working outdoors you may be exposed to different types of weather conditions.
Physical Demands:
The Site Director must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Purchase, gather, load, transport, and set-up equipment and supplies for activities
- Supervise individuals, including at times the use of physical restraints.
- Physically assist individuals from wheelchairs by pushing, pulling, or providing stabilization on unknown terrain.
- Physically transfer individuals from wheelchair to chair, into and out of vehicles, from pool deck into pool, in washroom facilities, etc.
- Lift and carry as much as 50 pounds
- Actively participate in programs

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
