General Job Description:
Under supervision, this position responds to and controls emergency calls for rescue, hazardous material and environmental control as they may relate to medical treatment, and life-support incidents. Personnel carry electronic communication devices and may be scheduled on-call or on stand by. They operate equipment associated with emergency rescue, hazardous material, environmental control, and life-support incidents. EIVTs are responsible for ensuring the readiness of equipment as well as their physical and mental self, for response to emergency and non-emergency fire, rescue, or medical situations. They have the knowledge of and adhere to safety procedures and practice at all times. This position follows any and all other directives given by the Fire Chief or his/her designee.
This is a public service based in trust, credibility and competency. lt is a critical requirement of both positions that the incumbent displays the desire and ability to perform and behave (on duty, as well as off duty) in a manner that does not damage or endanger the loss of trust with the public, co-workers, and the public safety forces. The EMT must meet the following qualifications and requirements at all times during employment.
All new employees are required to complete a (1) one year probation period.
Schedule
Employees are able to sign up for open shifts as needed. Employees are permitted to work a maximum of 38 hours per week.
Training
The Warren Township Fire Department will pay for training for any employee willing to sign a service commitment. Said service commitment is specific to the type, duration, and cost of training.
Compensation
Compensation is as follows:
- EMT Basic - $15.00 per hour
- EMT Intermediate - $16.00 per hour
- Paramedic - $17.00 per hour
Requirements
- State of Ohio certified ETVIT Basic (Minimum)
- CPR Certification
- Firefighter 1 or 2 or willingness to get within a year of appointment
- Ohio Driver's License (must remain valid during employment, without record).
- Advanced Fire and Rescue related training certification (Preferred)
- Thorough understanding of necessary protocols
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Willingness to obtain additional training certificates as designated by the Fire Chief.
- Willingness to develop within respective fields as well as in areas of leadership and mentoring.
- Ability to deal firmly, tactfully, and courteously with employees and the general public.
