Estimated Hours: 20-30 Hours a week, adjustment of working days from Monday-Friday on off season to include Saturdays May-September during the Farmers’ Market Season

Job Overview:
The Warrensburg Farmers’ Market will utilize a market manager to conduct activities over the course of the year to allow the market to be more sustainable. The manager will find and or develop ways to enhance the market’s revenue stream so that a reliably well- managed market is available for vendors and customers alike. The manager will work closely with Warrensburg Main Street staff to run a successful farmers’ market.
Preferred Education and Experience:
BS or major in Ag business management or a closely related field. BS or major in Public Relations, Marketing or Entrepreneurship. Extensive experience with small scale producers and/or farmers’ markets.
Required:
- Experience with and enthusiasm for small scale agriculture production and/or marketing, including farmers’ markets.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to positively communicate with a wide variety of people in both oral and written forms.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work weekends and irregular hours
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work outdoors in highly variable weather conditions: hot, humid, cold, wet and windy.
- Possess valid US driver’s license or equivalent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the farmers’ market coordinating activities, promotions, vendor support, etc with Main Street staff.
- Assist with setup, operation and takedown of the Saturday morning farmers’ market.
- Research and report on aspects of farmers’ markets across the country and state, including but not limited to customer counts, best practices, untapped market segments, untapped revenue streams (such as food hubs), common market goods, grant availability and grant writing.
- Collect, enter, tabulate and help in analysis of collected data.
- Actively participate in Fundraising activities including planning/ execution and have knowledge of the farmers’ market finances.
- Provide committee updates monthly for the Main Street board packet and attend Warrensburg Main Street Board meetings on a as needed basis.
- Work in coordination with Main Street staff to research, develop, and promote vendor training activities including but not limited to use of social media promotions and business growth.
- Work in coordination with Main Street Staff to plan activities such as coordinating guest chefs and cooking demonstrations utilizing in- season produce, coordinating children’s activities, planning/implementing special market days and organizing live music for the farmers’ market. Market manager will execute all activities during the weekly market.
- Prepare a marketing plan for the farmers’ market. Design, distribute flyers made for the farmers’ market in various formats and avenues. Create posters, flyers, certificates, logos, tickets, etc. in Canva and/or similar systems for other events
- Update and upkeep of website content and social media sites for the farmers’ market; research and report on broadcast email and text services available.
- Assist in Social Media marketing for events including Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok and others, as needed for the Warrensburg Farmers’ Market
- Complete permit requests for street closures, noise ordinances, open container permits, picnic licenses, school district permits for handouts, etc.
- Attend and report on vendor site visits as needed.
- Actively recruit and manage vendors to assist in all aspects of the Farmers’ Market
- Lead and recruit a Farmers’ Market committee that meets regularly to support and guide the future of the market.
- Other office duties include, answering phones, processing mail, distributing flyers, office housekeeping, distributing Shopping Guides to downtown businesses, and running errands for the office
- Secure and coordinate volunteers and interns. Delegate duties to volunteers and interns.
