The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all company transport trucks and vehicles, as well as managing drivers and ensuring full compliance with transportation regulations for WOCO Transportation. This role includes managing vehicle inventory, maintenance records, inspections, parts supplies, and DOT files, while ensuring all vehicle repairs are carried out efficiently, cost-effectively, and with integrity. The manager proactively oversees all vehicles and equipment to ensure timely preventative maintenance, routine servicing, and necessary repairs. Additionally, this role involves hiring, training, coaching, evaluating, and developing drivers, while upholding strict adherence to DOT regulations, maintenance documentation protocols, and company policies. A central responsibility is leading and promoting Driver Safety initiatives. Overall, the Transportation Operations Manager plays a vital role in maintaining the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of WOCO’s vehicle fleet and driver team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Stay current on all DOT regulations and ensure full compliance by maintaining accurate and up-to-date DOT files maintenance records for the fleet.
Complete routine and required inspections, preventive maintenance, and recordkeeping.
Ensure vehicle deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, combustion control standards.
Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Participate in educational opportunities to maintain current industry knowledge, as well as read technical and
regulation publications.
Perform minor vehicle body repair work to maintain the appearance and safe operation of fleet vehicles.
Effectively track vehicle cost per unit.
Adhere to all city, county, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the proper operation of equipment, chemical
usage and storage, hazmat requirements, and OSHA requirements.
Give all customers, internal and external, prompt and courteous service
Immediately advise the Director of Transportation of any issues that could negatively impact the Company.
Inform Director of Transportation of any personnel issues regarding the transportation drivers.
Coordinate transportation fleet vehicle service requests with clear communications between drivers, maintenance,
and office staff regarding the need for vehicle and/or equipment services.
Communicate with Drivers, Dispatch, Technicians, and Vendors in a courteous and positive manner.
Control inventory shrinkage and product loss to acceptable levels.
Manage technicians and coordinate repairs
Ensure DOT compliance and maintain accurate records.
Handle safety inspections and related reporting.
Work directly with dispatch for day-to-day logistics.
Coach, counsel, and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions related to the transportation department for the purpose of recruiting, retaining, and maintaining adequate number of drivers. Develop successful retention strategies.
Recap and coach drivers following all accidents and/or incidents.
Support drivers with materials and resources to keep operations running smoothly.
Keep all equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, install component and part upgrades, control corrosion, and complete winterization procedures.
Performs personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, supervising, counseling, disciplining, directing, training, etc.) for drivers with the intent to maintain adequate staffing, enhance productivity of personnel, and achieve department objectives within desired budget.
Ability to make logical, quick decisions in order to maximize company profitability.
Communicate all incidents, complaints, etc. (e.g. safety issues, transportation routes, legal issues, department staffing, etc.) with Director of Transportation in order to resolve or recommend a resolution.
Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identify and repair/replace worn and damaged parts.
Inspect the transportation fleet for the purpose of ensuring vehicles are in safe operating condition and comply with
inspection requirements consistent with local, state and federal transportation regulations.
Advise the Company of any actions/situations that pose a threat to any employee, customer, or guests.
Project a positive image of the company at all times.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, & TRAINING
2 years or more of Fleet Maintenance experience or Operations Experience at a managers level or higher
Class A CDL a plus
