What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Educational Interpreter position at Warrick County School Corporation?
Educational Interpreter
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Working under the direction of the classroom teacher to:
Provide interpreting services for students with a hearing impairment or other expressive communication issues.
Facilitate communication through use of sign language, spoken English, and other modes of expressive communication.
Supervise seat work while teacher is working with small groups.
Interpret within, social and academic settings, direct conversations class instructions, lectures, and tests,assemblies, field trips, etc. Assist student with make-up work.
Assist substitute teachers by providing necessary information on classroom routine during the regular teacher’s absence.
Assist with student supervision outside the classroom in activities such as emergency drills and assemblies.
Assist with any other duties directed by the school administrators as they would relate to instruction of students.
Minimum Training and Experience Required:

Proof of high school diploma or the equivalent
AND
-
Passage of the EIPA written test and a score of 3.5 or higher on the EIPA skill test
OR Proof of RID certification
