Job Description
The Warrick County Sheriff's Department is seeking highly skilled and dedicated individuals to join our team as Deputy Sheriffs. As a key member of our law enforcement team, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, maintaining public safety, and serving the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws; investigate crimes; apprehend and process suspects.
- Patrol designated areas, monitor county roads, and respond to emergency situations.
- Conduct sobriety tests, investigate accidents, and enforce traffic laws.
- Investigate misdemeanors, felonies, and drug-related offenses; secure evidence and interview witnesses.
- Provide crowd control during events, respond to alarms, and assist in emergency situations.
- Serve subpoenas, provide courtroom security, and escort detainees.
- Organize events, deliver public safety presentations, and build trust within the community.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; Indiana Law Enforcement Academy certification preferred.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Proficiency in using police equipment, communication systems, and standard office tools.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to handle high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws; evidence collection techniques; and law enforcement protocols.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
