SWCD Grant Funded Natural Resource Specialist

Overview
This position performs the technical work and education necessary for implementing conservation programs and practices in Warrick County.

Responsibilities
- Assists the natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA), and Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) personnel.
- Works with landowners to aid with conservation resource issues.

- Utilize GIS and ArcGIS software to analyze spatial data and create maps for resource management.
- Informs landusers about programs that provide technical and financial assistance to apply conservation practices to their land.
- Helps with adult and school-age education programs throughout the county.
- Performs other duties as requested by the District Supervisors.

Position Requirements
- Degree or working towards a degree from an accredited university or college in physical, environmental, earth science, agriculture or applicable technical experience in soil and water conservation.
- Good communication skills
- Familiarity with GIS software, particularly ArcGIS, is highly desirable.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize variable workload.
- Previous experience working in agricultural settings or farms can be beneficial.
- Strong communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Travel outside the office and the county on behalf of the SWCD will be necessary.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Must possess excellent computer skills and knowledge in word processing and database spreadsheets.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $3,000.00 - $3,166.00 per month
