Staff Accountant, Business Office
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant, Business Office will be responsible for reviewing accounts payable batches, administering the college purchasing card program, and preparing general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and post accounts payable batches prepared by Accounting Assistant, ensuring accurate data entry and authorized approvals.
- Administer the purchasing card program, including implementation of a new card program.
- Hire, train, and supervise a student worker to assist with internal charges, expense transfers, bank reconciliations, and other monthly transactions.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare annual audit workpapers.
- Assist with the preparation of audited financial statements, including footnotes and schedules.
- Review internal charges and expense transfers for completeness and accuracy.
- Review bank reconciliations, including journal entries and reconciling items.
- Complete unclaimed property due diligence and annual reporting with states.
- Prepare annual federal 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC tax forms.
- Assist with the preparation of 990 and 990-T annual tax returns.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in accounting/finance is required, along with three years of experience in accounts payable, auditing, tax, and/or financial statement reporting. Microsoft Office proficiency, attention to detail, ability to collaborate in a team environment, strong communication skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality standards are also essential.
