Summary:

Join the Warwick Hotels and Resorts family as the Director of Finance at our Warwick Allerton Chicago location. As Director of Finance, you will lead the financial strategy and operations of the hotel, ensuring profitability, financial stability, and long-term growth.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Financial Operations: Oversee all financial operations of the hotel, including asset protection, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, payroll, accounts receivable/payable, and general ledger transactions.
  • Financial Strategy & Planning: Work closely with the General Manager and Executive Committee to develop and implement strategic financial plans, including annual budgets, forecasts, and capital expenditure (CAPEX) plans.
  • Advisory Role: Serve as a financial advisor to the General Manager and department heads, providing actionable insights and financial analysis to maximize profitability, cost efficiency, and business performance.
  • Cash Flow & Budgeting: Manage cash flow, ensuring accurate, timely deposits, proper reconciliation of bank accounts, and adherence to budget forecasts. Regularly review and adjust financial strategies to ensure financial goals are met.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including analysis of financial outcomes, profit margins, expenses, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Compliance & Audits: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including tax planning, payroll taxes, and reporting. Oversee and coordinate the audit process and internal control mechanisms.
  • Operational Efficiency: Monitor financial performance in relation to operational activities, investigating variances to budget and prior-year results. Recommend improvements in operational practices that can boost financial outcomes.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, supervise, train, and develop the finance team. Encourage continuous growth through mentoring, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to manage costs, review revenue streams, and ensure financial accuracy in all hotel operations.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other financial and administrative duties as required, including participation in executive team meetings and strategic initiatives to support the hotel’s goals.
Qualifications
  • Education: A four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in financial management, including at least 4 years in a leadership role within the hospitality industry. Experience in a unionized hotel environment is a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and accounting software.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders effectively.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading, developing, and mentoring finance teams, ensuring high performance and alignment with hotel goals.
  • Work Schedule: This position is typically Monday to Friday, with flexibility to accommodate business needs.
