Job Overview
Warwick Investment Group is seeking an experienced Geologist to assist in the planning, development, exploration, exploitation, and evaluation of its Permian and Midcon assets. The primary responsibility of the role is to unlock incremental value from the portfolio through the development and optimization of existing inventory while also contributing to the evaluation of new opportunities. We are targeting candidates with a passion for integrating subsurface data with development decisions while working across Warwick’s vertically integrated and multifunctional team to achieve best in class development results.
The role will be responsible for all aspects of subsurface geoscience studies, input into multi-discipline subsurface interpretations and recommendations that fulfill production goals and add reserves. This role will work with all members of our fully integrated team including reservoir and drilling engineering.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Plan and develop horizontal wells within a cross-disciplinary team, accounting for geological knowledge of the target reservoirs.
- Constant communication with subsurface team on potential geologic hazards or upside across a range of operated and non-operated drilling and production evaluations.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a dynamic team environment across a wide range of projects while continuing to prioritize highest returning goals.
- Ability to think critically and drive results with or without direct supervision.
- Strong data analysis skills that allow for integration of subsurface datasets within all functions of the company.
- Utilize surface and subsurface geotechnical data to generate geologic models through log correlation, cross-section construction, stratigraphic analysis, petrophysical analysis, and interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic datasets.
- Communicate well plans to operations engineering teams in a geologic prognosis with limited supervision while pointing out hazards in both vertical wellbore and in horizontal reservoir targets.
- Able to identify shallow drilling hazards, understanding of formation dip, lateral variability, stratigraphy changes, land and regulatory constraints, and familiarity with target lines.
- Ability to use software to geosteer or re-steer wells and have worked with geosteering companies and has working knowledge of drilling operations.
- Create, present, and maintain maps and cross sections used for various team and executive level meetings to support geoscience recommendations.
- Understand and apply knowledge of petroleum economics to drive technical focus and investment decisions.
- Communicate across multiple disciplines with oral and written reports and update as dictated by company activity.
- Working hand and hand with drilling and reservoir engineering to ensure the best drilling opportunities get drilled.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Geoscience related field master’s degree preferred.
- Significant prior experience and strong track record of success in Permian or Anadarko basins. Additional experience in other unconventional asset development is a plus.
- 5 years of recent experience in the upstream oil and gas industry with a focus on asset development, exploration, and evaluations.
- Strong mapping and interpretation skills; Geographix experience required. Recent experience with well log analysis and seismic interpretation preferred.
- Experience in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment, working closely with reservoir, drilling and completion engineers to develop an integrated approach to reservoir development.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to interact with team members at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent analytical skills, organizational skills, and acute attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple, competing priorities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong initiative and independent thinking.
