NOTICE OF TEMPORARY VACANCY
POSITION: TEMPORARY Maintenance and Custodial Supervisor
40 Hours/week
SALARY: $45.00/hr.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The TEMPORARY Maintenance and Custodial Supervisor will be responsible for the direct supervision of custodial and maintenance staff in all district buildings during the specific time of the temporary posting . Reports directly to the Director of facilities and Operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION (Illustrative examples of position):
- Direct supervision of district custodial work;
- Oversee all custodial schedules, procedures and training;
- Conduct routine and periodic building and safety inspections and accident investigations;
- Oversight of inventory of custodial and maintenance supplies.
- Provide oversight of cleaning supplies distribution.
- Perform additional duties as directed by the department Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have the ability to understand written and oral instructions; must have a valid Rhode Island driver’s license; the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written form; the ability to develop an effective working relationship with staff and the ability to perform duties with an awareness of school department requirements and policies. Must have demonstrable leadership skills and the ability to organize the staff and garner respect in a short amount of time in the temporary position. Must feel comfortable holding co-workers accountable for a productive work schedule, efficient process and professional work behaviors.
Must have a thorough knowledge (5 years minimum) of maintenance/custodial methods utilized in an educational facility setting. Must have a functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other district utilized software products. Must be highly organized yet flexible to enough to adapt as situations arise. Must possess a working knowledge of OSHA, fire, health, AHERA and other applicable safety codes and be able to work independently or as part of a team.
EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
