About The Role
As a Linux System Administrator, the contractor shall provide System Administrator support to provide on-site network server administration for all USAMRIID servers, both physical and virtual. The Contractor shall provide System Administration support for systems to include, but not limited to Linux Server Operating Systems including RHEL7/8 or greater, Windows Server Operating Systems, VMware/Vctr Server environments, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Testing & Evaluation mission at USAMRIID and Veeam Backup and Restore Systems. Maintain baseline certification based on current Operating Systems and Applications.

About The Role

Responsibilities
- SA Task 1 – Perform server duties to include, but not limited to: install server hardware and operating system (OS); reinstall/upgrade of OS; maintain servers; Sustain and harden servers to meet Cyber Security requirements, apply OS patches monthly across multiple platforms (NIPR, RSN, etc.); Install and maintain application software on servers create/maintain printer queues; add/maintain folder/file permissions; troubleshoot file access, server and printer problems; monitor event server logs; monitor Trellix/McAfee on servers; Sustain VMWare Servers and related virtual technologies at 99.9% availability. Provide on-call support during non-business hours.
- SA Task 2 – Provide network engineering support for troubleshooting, and problem resolution following connectivity issues, outages, or degradation in the server environment.
- SA Task 3 – Perform Active Directory (AD) duties to include, but not limited to: create new user accounts, security groups and server/computer accounts; maintain security groups; troubleshoot user account problems for approximately 1,000 NIPR account and 1,000 SRENet accounts. Provide local support to resolve DoD Enterprise Email account issues for approximately 1,000 accounts.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience
- Security certification
- In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems and command-line tools
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies
- Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or KVM
- Certifications in Linux administration, such as LPIC or RHCE
