Job Overview
We are seeking a phlebotomist comfortable with administative and clinical duties to join our team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing blood draws and specimen collection with a focus on patient care and safety. This role requires proficiency in laboratory procedures and techniques, ensuring accurate specimen processing while maintaining a high standard of patient service. Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling for laboratory testing.
- Collect, label, and process specimens according to established protocols.
- Ensure the proper handling and transportation of specimens to the clinical laboratory.
- Maintain aseptic technique during all procedures to prevent contamination.
- Monitor and document vital signs as required prior to and after blood collection.
- Provide excellent patient service by explaining procedures to patients, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort during the process.
- Handle administrative duties in a timely manner
- Perform routine clinical tasks
- Answer phone calls, schedule appointments and follow up on medical orders
- Escort patients to exam rooms: obtain vital signs, medication reconciliation, and data collection
- Clean exam rooms
- Communication of health care plans with patients and medical teams
- IV administration
- IM Injections
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure efficient workflow within the clinical setting.
Requirements
- Proven experience in phlebotomy or a related clinical laboratory environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory techniques, and procedures.
- Proficiency in specimen collection processing and handling.
- Familiarity with vital signs monitoring and documentation practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient service.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Certification in phlebotomy or relevant training is highly desirable.
- Understanding of aseptic technique and its application in clinical settings.
