Overview
Under the direction of the assigned administrator, provides coaching and support to school personnel in the area of behavior intervention for students who demonstrate social-emotional and behavioral needs. Develop behavioral plans for students who exhibit social-emotional and behavioral deficits in the educational setting, and assist in the implementation, coaching and monitoring of these plans to ensure student success. Additionally, will provide staff development and training in the area of behavioral interventions and support for all educational partners.
Required Qualifications:
- California Teaching Credential in Special Education or Masters degree in the field of applied behavior analysis, school psychology, social work or related field
- Three years experience in the educational or related field, working with children with exceptional needs.
- Valid California Driver’s license and personal car for use on district business
- Experience and knowledge of evidence-based behavioral practices, including Applied Behavior Analysis, to promote positive behavioral, social emotional functioning for students in the educational setting.
- Experience and knowledge in systematic observation and data tracking, and developing behavior intervention plans and supports for students in need.
- Experience providing individual and family support, including working collaboratively with outside agencies, providing professional development, and monitoring program implementation
Desired Qualifications:
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst License
- Bilingual/Biliterate
- Continuum of Behavior Interventions and Supports (COBIS), or willingness to attain such certification or the equivalent
- Knowledge of California Education Code
- Knowledge of Special Education Law
Essesntial Functions:
- Collaborate with and assist students and their families in determining and reducing behavioral and social-emotional barriers that impede student social and academic success.
- Work closely with site administrators, counselors, social workers, teachers, and classified staff to support all students with identified social-emotional and behavioral needs in the educational setting.
- Regularly model and train all district staff in approved strategies for behavior management.
- Deliver behavioral supports and interventions across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels to address the diverse needs of students.
- Collect data on student behavior, determine function of student behavior, contribute to reports as appropriate, and provide recommendations for student goals and objectives as needed.
- Attend Response to Intervention (RTI) and/or Individual Educational Plan (IEP) meetings to review student data and provide recommendations.
- Develop and implement behavior plans for assigned students.
- Conduct informal behavior assessments, as well Functional Behavioral Assessments, in order to develop appropriate evidence-based behavior interventions, as needed.
- Maintain detailed records and reports of student social-emotional and behavioral functioning.
- Maintain a caseload of students requiring behavioral consultation and interventions.
- Provide specialized services to children as defined in their RTI plan or IEP.
- Confer with teachers to discuss and recommend appropriate behavior interventions.
- Confer with parents to provide support and recommendations.
- Assist teachers in planning behavioral supports to enhance student social and academic behaviors, including whole class management.
- Provide in-service training/staff development to general and special education staff.
- Completes all other duties as assigned.
