Overview:
Join our team as a Washakie County Sheriff’s Office Dispatcher and play a crucial role in supporting law enforcement operations. This position requires strong communication skills, quick thinking, and the ability to handle emergency situations effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Receive emergency and non-emergency calls from the public
- Dispatch first responders to various locations as needed
- Dispatch for multiple first responder agencies
- Provide critical information to first responders in the field
- Use phone systems for incoming and outgoing calls
- Enter data accurately into computer systems
- Analyze situations and prioritize responses accordingly
- Communicate clearly with first responders, and the public
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Assist with emergency medical instructions over the phone when necessary
Requirements:
- Strong multitasking ability
- Proficient typing skills for data entry tasks
- Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts calmly
- Familiarity with dispatching procedures is a plus
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire.
- No criminal convictions as defined by Wyoming P.O.S.T.
