What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chinese World Language Teaching Assistant position at Washington and Lee University?
The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at Washington and Lee University invites applications for a World Language Teaching Assistant (WLTA) in Chinese, starting August 2025. The position is annually renewable and contingent on funding and performance. The WLTA in Chinese will assist full-time faculty members in teaching the first- and second-year Chinese language courses. Primary teaching responsibilities include independently teaching drill sessions, grading homework, holding office hours, and planning weekly Chinese table activities.

Qualifications:
M.A. (in hand or expected) or higher in Chinese Language and Literature, Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or related fields; native or near-native fluency in both Chinese and English; demonstrated experience in teaching Chinese at the College level through regular or summer sessions is preferred.
