RESIDENT ASSISTANT TRAINER
Work Hours : Sunday - Saturday . Shifts include the following 0645-1415; 1345-2215; 2145-0615. The schedule may fluctuate based on need.
Qualifications :
Completion of secondary education, in addition to three (3) months general health care experience or the equivalent combination of training and / or experience.
Basic computer skills are needed. Must be able to obtain vital signs and recognize symptoms that are outside of normal limits.
Must be able to physically assist residents as needed with transfers, positioning and / or falls. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Must be able to carry out detailed but basic written and / or verbal instruction, recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action, complete accurate documentation that is factual and unbiased, communicate effectively,must be able to lift, position and move individuals according to established procedures.
Have demonstrated the ability to provide effective training to new employees and be able to communicate ongoing progress and needs of new staff.
Licensure / Certification Requirements : If STNA, must be in good standing with the State Board. Must be certified in CPR (may be acquired post hire).
Responsibilities :
Training and developing new staff during orientation, and as needed, in a RA position with regard to day to day procedures and policies of the Washington County Home. Will be able to effectively and appropriately demonstrate the completion of tasks that ensure the resident safety and dignity as well as providing ongoing support as staff transition out of orientation.
Will track progress and provide feedback to nursing leadership regarding progress and / or concerns. Will mentor new staff and work with them to help them improve deficiencies in conjunction with Charge Nurses.
Will continue to reach out to staff once they are out of orientation to ensure they have a good understanding of expectations and guidelines of the facility. Will work as a RA in the absence of a need for training. The responsibilities of the RA are as follows :
Provide hands-on assistance with Activities of Daily living and Instrumental Activities of Daily living to the residents of the Washington County Home in all conditions.
Monitor residents day to day and identify symptoms and vital signs that are outside of normal limits and report to Charge Nurse to ensure the needs of the residents are met and health and safety is ensured. Will work with a team to maintain a stress free environment and meet the needs of the residents both physically and socially.
Will be responsible for communicating shift to shift the unmet needs of the residents and will provide ongoing communication to ensure care plans are current and effective.
Will work interdepartmentally to ensure the facility is prepared and appropriate from shift to shift. Must comply with all HIPAA regulations.
