Job Description
Job Title : Registered Nurse
Job Specialty : Med-Surg Adult
Job Duration : 13 weeks
Shift : Wednesday and Thursday 7 PM - 7 AM
Guaranteed Hours : 24 hours per week
Experience : Minimum years not specified
License : Current license as a registered nurse
Certifications : BLS certification, ACLS certified or willingness to complete within 1 year, PALS preferred
Must-Have : Eligible for reciprocity or work permit
Job Description :
- Assess patient nursing care needs and evaluate the effectiveness of care provided.
- Apply nursing theory to assess, treat, and evaluate patient care.
- Analyze ongoing assessment data to determine safe patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to integrate information from patients and families.
- Maintain adequate records reflecting patient condition, medications, and treatments.
- Conduct rounds and check the condition of assigned patients to ensure maximum care and determine the need for additional or modified services.
- Act as a patient and family advocate, serving as a liaison between medical staff and the patient and family.
- Demonstrate openness to new approaches, methods, or technology in a changing healthcare setting.
- Interact with all visitors, providers, coworkers, and other departments in a customer-friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
- Develop patient care plans using critical and analytical skills that consider patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic factors.
- Coordinate the continuum of care across multidisciplinary team settings collaboratively.
- Apply technical knowledge to problem-solving and act as a role model and resource for other staff members.
- Maintain skills / competency related to special equipment, medications, and procedures common to the patient population.
- Support departmental standards and practice guidelines.
- Initiate and assist with patient and family education concerning diagnosis, medical management, medications, activity, discharge plans, and home care.
- Notify the Charge Nurse of changes in patient census for appropriate staffing adjustments.
- Implement emergency care procedures in potential or actual emergencies according to departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used for patients.
- Recommend process improvements for increased efficiencies.
- Cross-train to other departments as needed and demonstrate flexibility in scheduling.
- Complete education for professional growth and technical knowledge.
- Ensure regular attendance in coordination with the attendance policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
