THE POSITION
Washington County's Finance Department is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team!

The Opportunity
The Senior Accountant provides professional-level accounting and finance support under the supervision of the Chief Accountant. Responsibilities include preparing and overseeing financial reports, supporting audits, collaborating with operating departments to develop accounting procedures, and ensuring compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards and other regulatory requirements.
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in financial reconciliation, debt management, and property tax reporting, while contributing to the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and supporting external audits.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Technical Skills :
- Proficiency in governmental accounting principles, including GASB standards.
- Solid understanding of general ledger reconciliation, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Experience with financial ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, Munis, Workday).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formula (i.e. IF, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, COUNTIF, etc.), creating and managing tables, PivotTables / PivotCharts and financial analysis tools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience :
A Bachelor's Degree in finance or accounting; AND
Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience performing budgetary or financial analysis, or auditing, which includes at least one (1) year of supervisory or lead worker experience spanning responsibilities in the defined principle duties of this position classification.
