Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Correctional Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of inmates and staff within the facility. This role requires a strong commitment to upholding the law and maintaining a secure environment. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a vital role in enforcing facility rules and regulations while providing care and support to those in our custody.
Duties
- Maintain the security and safety of the facility, including patrolling the grounds, monitoring CCTV cameras, and responding to alarms.
- Conduct regular rounds of the facility to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
- Interact with inmates in a professional and respectful manner, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Document incidents, violations, and other events that occur within the facility using report writing skills.
- Participate in conflict management and de-escalation techniques to maintain a peaceful environment.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for inmates, including providing basic first aid and CPR as necessary.
- Collaborate with other correctional officers to ensure a unified and effective approach to maintaining order and discipline within the facility.
- Monitor and manage the daily activities of inmates, including meal times, recreation, and work assignments.
- Enforce facility policies and procedures, including those related to search and seizure, contraband, and contravention of rules.
Qualifications
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to be certified in CPR and first aid.
- Must be able to work in a militarized environment and be willing to take direction from supervisors.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Must be physically fit and able to perform the duties of the job, which include standing for long periods, walking, and lifting.
