Position Description:
This position plays a critical role in the coordination and execution of our marketing and communication efforts. The Content Marketing Manager will tell the WA dairy story through content development via written and video communication. They will be responsible for managing and executing various tasks that ensure the successful completion of planned marketing programs. This includes leveraging content development, social media, copywriting, project management, marketing strategy, and partnership activation. The ideal candidate will drive awareness and engagement through compelling, strategically placed content. They will be a strong writer with a focus on ideation, optimizing content, and tracking key performance results.

This position requires the willingness to travel to local and national events, including some evenings and weekends as needed. As the content lead, the Content Marketing Manager will play a key role in communications to both consumers and farmers to share organizational projects and results with stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities:
Content Ideation, Development, and Copywriting:

  • Ideate, develop, and write compelling content to promote the Washington dairy community and products across multiple channels, including social media, website, email, etc.
  • Write and develop engaging content and copy for marketing programs and assets, ensuring clarity and impact for the targeted audience.
  • Shoot, edit, and create compelling short-form videos for use across multiple channels.
  • Lead the development of a social media editorial calendar, social content, and the promotion of content in collaboration with the agency and other members of the communications team.
  • Leverage industry best practices and organizational mission knowledge to inspire content development ideas.
  • Collaborate with the WA Dairy team to write copy supporting key messaging through various channels and assets.
  • Work closely with the Sustainable Nutrition team to communicate the nutritional benefits and sustainability story of dairy to consumers.
  • Collaborate with the Farmer and Community Relations Manager to develop newsletters, e-mails, and other communication to engage dairy farmer stakeholders.
  • Develop content to promote WA Dairy stories and news via public relations and traditional media channels, including press releases and newswire stories.
  • Partner with industry partners to generate and develop content supporting initiatives and programs.
  • Manage WA Dairy e-communication, including developing content such as newsletters, announcements, industry/board presentations, reports, and event invitations. Manage Mailchimp accounts and contact lists.
  • Conduct research on industry-related topics (combining online sources, farmer and industry interviews, and studies) to develop content.
  • Serve as editor for all content to ensure high quality, clarity, consistency, and adherence to brand tone.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of key performance indicators (KPIs) on digital channels, particularly social media, to optimize reach and engagement.

Marketing Project Management:

  • Lead the development and execution of WA Dairy marketing programs, including project planning, activation, tracking, measurement, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the internal team and Sustainable Nutrition and Business Development teams to ensure collaboration and message integration.
  • Manage and activate marketing partnerships, ensuring contractual elements are utilized, and ideate additional marketing opportunities with WA Dairy partners.
  • Serve on project teams to conceptualize and develop marketing and communication ideas, providing insights to maximize marketing opportunities.
  • Track, measure, and ensure KPI reporting on WA Dairy marketing initiatives.
  • Track and report on relevant news and issues via news monitoring subscriptions and tools.
  • Collaborate and support consumer-facing event activations, strategically creating promotional plans to engage target audiences and elevate WA Dairy’s presence.
  • Work closely with the WA Dairy agency to plan and execute marketing initiatives and serve as a key contact.
  • Manage the WA Dairy influencer program, including influencer curation, key messaging integration, and consistency.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience in dairy or agriculture a plus.
  • Passion for nutrition, sustainability and storytelling.
  • Experienced in social media channels, marketing, and analytics.
  • Experienced in copywriting for social media and digital channels.
  • Strong understanding of public relations, advertising, and marketing fundamentals.
  • Willingness to travel and work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work with diverse program staff and teams.
  • Enthusiastic, contributing team member with a collaborative spirit.
  • Ability to communicate effectively about complex or divisive topics.
  • Strong project management skills.
