Summary:
Under general direction, incumbent(s) supports teachers in the implementation of the regular and supplemental curricular, instructional, and assessment programs.


Essential Functions:

  • Plans the Scope & Sequence (including SEL, fine motor skills, and reading) for Kinder Jumpstart classes for 27 schools.
    • Social and Emotional Competency - child’s ability to interact with others, regulate own emotions and behavior, problem solve and communicate effectively
    • Fine and Gross Motor - child’s development and ability to use minor and major muscle movement with precision, balance and control
    • Language - Receptive and Expressive - child’s development and ability to understand directions, stories, conversations, and nonverbal cues. Child’s ability to communicate needs wants and ideas with verbal and nonverbal cues.
    • Emergent Literacy - child’s developing foundations of reading and writing; engaging with literature, identifying, differentiating and manipulating sounds, and alphabet knowledge.
  • Evaluates and inventories the needed summer materials for Jumpstart teachers
  • Provides a budget and ensures that materials are received and delivered to schools
  • Promotes the Summer WESD Kinder program and encourages teachers to teach in the classes
  • Provides program templates and establishes procedures (such as sign in/out sheets)
  • Plans and facilitates the Professional Development for Kinder teachers in May 2025
  • Creates a program assessment to measure appropriate growth
  • Manages the student registration for each class and works with school team to fill the class to capacity
  • Coordinates all work with Academic Services, meeting regularly to ensure quality implementation and address any concerns and needs
  • Be present at each site on a regular basis through the summer program, observing classes, providing feedback and addressing concerns and needs
  • Must be present 30 minutes prior to and 30 minutes after summer school programs each day of summer school.

Required Qualifications:


To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

  • Valid Standard Arizona Department of Education Teaching Certificate

Preferred Qualifications:


It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

  • Prior experience in a Kindergarten Classroom
  • Prior experience as a Summer School Coordinator

Approximately time commitment:

  • 5 hours/week beginning 2/3/25 for remainder of school year
  • 5-6 hours/day during Jumpstart (5/27/25 - 6/20/25)
