Summary:
Under general direction, incumbent(s) provides quality instruction through planned lessons, diagnosing learning needs, creating and leading engaging learning activities, utilizing assessments to monitor student progress, and communicating with administration and parents. Creating a flexible classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed.
Essential Functions:
- Teaches district approved curriculum and Arizona’s English Language Proficiency Standards.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material that cover all aspects of the English language and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Tracks student progress and customizes groups for students
- Communicates regularly with parents, teachers, and school administration about the progress of their students
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Shares ideas, provides feedback to staff, students and parents, making themselves available for educational-related purposes.
- Maintains knowledge of best practices for English learners.
- Conducts assessments for English Learners.
- Participates in job-embedded professional development for teachers.
- Assists Teachers, EL Testers, and necessary staff in the planning and creation of lesson plans
- Other job related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
- Obtain and maintain an appropriate Arizona Department of Education Teaching Certification.
- Maintain a Structured English Immersion, Bilingual, or English as a Second Language Endorsement with the Arizona Department of Education.
- Obtain and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Verified Fingerprint Clearance Card.
